Equipping Out-of-Area Firefighters with Critical Information During Wildfire Events

What is a  BeaconBox?

  • A Beacon Box is a physical, waterproof, and secure box located at the entrance of a community that includes critical mapping information for firefighters. The BeaconBox is designed to equip out-of-area fire personnel with vital information that is not readily available during an active wildfire event. It provides simple and easy-to-understand data through beautifully compiled printed maps, laminated posters, and digital PDFs (accessed via QR codes and secure flash drives). The BeaconBox is secure; it has a standard padlock designed to be cut off with bolt cutters by any fire department.

Why are they needed?

With over 800 fire departments in the states mutual aid program, ask yourself,  would this information help the engine companies coming into help?
